St Vincent’s Hospital is committed to providing a positive, supportive and innovative teaching and learning environment in order for nursing staff to develop and expand their clinical and professional knowledge, expertise and skills.

The Nurse Education & Development Centre (NEDC) offers a wide range of educational programs and e-learning packages and is leading the way with a newly renovated ‘e-Learning Space’ for nurses. The room, complete with eight computer terminals and a SMART board can be accessed by all nursing staff in order to complete e-learning packages including mandatory e-learning modules.

(Please only access this e-learning site if you are an employee of St Vincent’s & Mater Health Sydney or are attending an education program at St Vincent’s Hospital that requires an e-learning component).

St Vincent’s Hospital also has a high fidelity ‘Don Harrison’ Simulation Centre which provides a realistic clinical setting for all staff to practice a variety of care processes in a safe, protected environment. An adjoining control room allows the educators to observe student responses when they alter the state of the simulated patient as well as digitally record & playback activities in order to effectively debrief the exercise.
