OH&S
SV&MHS is committed to ensuring the health, safety and welfare of every person working at or visiting work places under its control. The safety and wellbeing of our employees, patients, contractors and the communities in which we operate is an integral part of our business. Across the organisation we manage safety risks through our Risk Management based Occupational Health & Safety Management System. Health and safety remains a joint management and employee responsibility and it is only through consultation and collaboration that continual improvements will be achieved.
Our Staff Injury Management Program recently gained accreditation with the International Disability Management & Standards Council (IDMSC) achieving the highest score in Australia at the time of assessment. This certification confirms our commitment to manage both work & non work related staff injuries inline with a global benchmark Injury Management Standards.
SV&MHS supports Consultation through OHS Committees by encouraging participation, nominating appropriate senior managers as employer representatives and providing adequate resources to enable the OHS Committees to properly perform their functions. The OHS Consultation arrangements are reviewed and monitored on an on-going basis to ensure consultation with all employees is effective and that all OHS issues are addressed.
Our Employee Assistance Program provides confidential counselling for our people and immediate families on a range of issues. This may include relationship and family problems; stress management; grief and bereavement and trauma management. This service is provided by independent external counselling specialists.
A number of Wellness Programs are helping to enhance the physical and emotional wellbeing of our people including staff exercise classes and retreats.
