St Vincent's Hospital (Sydney) HREC is accredited as a Lead HREC by NSW Ministry of Health and is also a certified institution under the NHMRC National Harmonisation of Multi-centre Ethical Review Initiative (HoMER).
St Vincent's Hospital (Sydney) HREC has also obtained additional insurance to cover HREC review for projects being conducted at Public and/or Private Health sites Nationally.
The Research Office is a department of St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney Ltd. The office is the secretariat of the St Vincent’s Hospital Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) and is also responsible for Research Governance review across St Vincent's & Mater Health Sydney (the Mater, St Vincent’s Private Hospital, St Vincent’s Hospital, St Joseph’s Hospital, and Sacred Heart Hospice) the Victor Change Cardiac Research Institute, and the Garvan Institute of Medical Research.
The first point of contact for researchers wishing to undertake research projects involving humans across St Vincents & Mater Health Sydney campus is the Research Office.
The staff will provide assistance with Research Governance and applications to the St Vincent’s Hospital Human Research Ethics Committee.
The secretariats of the Animal Experimentation Ethics Committee and St Vincents & Mater Health Sydney Bioethics Committee are located in the Garvan Institute of Medical Research.
