Course Overview	This program aims to assist the experienced perioperative nurse in the development of knowledge and skills related to advanced cardiothoracic surgery. It will provide insight and information for the Perioperative Nurse to further develop their knowledge, skills and confidence in the circulating and instrument role for complex cardiothoracic surgery. It will follow the patient journey from listing on the heart/lung transplant wait list through LVAD/RVAD, ECMO and onto transplantation. The day is being sponsored by Edwards/Vascutek.
Key Topics	This program consists of lectures provided from the multidisciplinary team: Discuss the pathophysiology of cadiomyopathy, both ischaemic and idiopathic. ECMO – VV, VA & VPA. Listing on the Transplant waitlist and selection criteria for transplantation LVAD & RVAD procedures. Heart and Lung transplantation. Transmedics organ care system.
